Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Kedah established to assist and advise His Majesty Tuanku Sultan as Head of Religious Affairs in matters concerned with the religion of Islam in the state.

 

On May 15, 2008, Administration of Islamic Religious Council and the Islamic Religious Department and placed under the management of a separate Department Head. Islamic Religious Council headed by the President of the Islamic Council of Kedah, while the Islamic Religious Department is headed by the Director of the Islamic Religious Department.
